Name: Tech. Sgt. Aaron Hartzler

Unit: 92nd Operations Support Squadron

Duty title: NCO in-charge, aircrew flight equipment (AFE) operations

Home town and state: Portland, Ore.

What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild AFB? Ensure all AFE flightline equipment, aircraft up/downloads, floatation equipment, and personnel management is accomplished each day.

What do you enjoy about your job? I enjoy the personal interaction with all the different AFE sections and operations group leadership. The leadership here constantly helps us all grow and everyday make me feel like I'm part of a true Air Force family.

Why did you choose to serve in the military? Originally I came in for the education, but later stayed because I wanted to make a difference in my life and others.

What is your greatest accomplishment? My tour as a military training instructor and the lives I touched within it.

What goals you want to achieve or meet while at Fairchild AFB? Make Master Sgt., Senior Master Sgt., finish bachelor's degree in criminal justice, and maybe a master's degree.

What is your favorite quote? "Be better today than you were yesterday!"

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her? Senior Master Sgt. Toraino Hodges (previous MTI Superintendent), taught me to be prepared with all the answers before the questions are even asked; always know what's going on with your people, job, attention to detail and to know why we do what we do. To constantly better myself as well as others and to be the example for everyone to follow.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why? Senior Master Sgt. Hodges, because he has so much information to offer on what it means to be an Air Force enlisted Senior NCO.
