The 92nd Medical Group will host a memorial service to commemorate the 20-year-anniversary of the hospital shooting here, Friday, June 20 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park.

On June 20, 1994, a gunman entered the Fairchild hospital looking for two mental health doctors who he blamed to be the reason for his discharge from the military. That day he killed 4 and injured 19. The gunman was stopped and killed by former Senior Airman Andrew Brown who was assigned to the 92nd Security Forces Squadron at the time. Brown was awarded the Airman's Medal by President William Clinton.

A ceremony will be held at Memorial Park in memory of the fallen and injured. Family, friends and survivors have been invited to attend the ceremony. Brown will be the guest speaker.

The memorial service will be open to those who have proper credentials to access the base.

Media planning to attend this event must RSVP by June 19, 2014, at 12 p.m. For any other questions, please contact the 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs office at (509) 247-5705 or by e-mail at 92arw.pa@us.af.mil.
