Colleges answer questions at Fairchild Education Fair

An Education Fair will be held Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the base education center with representatives from available colleges and universities available to discuss classes and programs, as well as the admissions process and financial aid.

This free event provides the opportunity for the entire Fairchild community to learn about the variety of educational opportunities available both locally and online.

It cannot be overstated that the decision to pursue higher education is one of the most important decisions one makes over the course of their lifetime, said Barry Miller, a 92nd Force Support Squadron education services specialist. Attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not widespread to those who have not received a higher education.

"The simple truth is high school graduates today are unable to obtain the number of high-paying jobs that were once available," he said. "Therefore, making an informed decision regarding your education is paramount, and with 24 participating organizations, this event may offer the opportunity you have been searching for. Whether you are a current college student, a high school senior or just thinking about going back to school, you will surely be able to find a program to meet your personal and professional needs."

Participating colleges include: the Academy of Art University, Ashford University, City University of Seattle, Columbia College, Columbia Southern University, DeVry University, Eastern Washington University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Full Sail University, Gonzaga University, Grand Canyon University, New Horizons Computer Learning Center, North Idaho College, Park University, the Community Colleges of Spokane, Thomas Edison State College, Trident University, the University of Phoenix, Washington State University, Webster University, Western Governors University and Whitworth University. Also present will be regional representatives from the Troops to Teachers and Air Washington programs.
