Tristan Hinderliter 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Plans are in place to revamp the handicapped parking spaces outside the Fairchild's Base Exchange and Commissary in April, according to 92nd Mission Support Group commander Col. Van Fuller. Improving handicapped access, safety and customer service are what is driving this change, the colonel said. The total number of handicapped parking spaces will go from 22 to 28, exceeding the number of spaces required by Americans with Disabilities Act by 75 percent. Handicapped spaces in front of the Commissary will increase from 14 to 16, and spaces in front of the BX will increase from eight to 12. There will also be new van-accessible handicap spots available. In addition to the handicap spaces, designated parking spaces for the 141st Air Refueling Wing commander is being added.
