Persons of the Year
The annual Armed Forces Person of the Year luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 12 at the Doubletree Hotel, Spokane City Center, located at 322 N. Spokane Falls Court. Registration is $25.00; reservations can be made at www.greaterspokaneincorporated.org or by calling 624-1393.

Remembrance Tree planting ceremony
In support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to visually symbolize the victims who have touched the hearts of family, friends and professionals, there will be a Remembrance Tree planting ceremony in front of the base library April 10 at 12:45 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m., IDS helping agencies will provide information displays on health and healing for the mind, body and spirit.

Arbor Day
The Fairchild Air Force Base Arbor Day and Tree City USA celebration is at 1 p.m. April 11 outside the Bud Day Bldg. 1256, located by the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School. The annual event celebrates Fairchild's involvement in Arbor Day and the Tree City USA program since 1994. Base leadership will lead the ceremony tree planting.

Commissary Diaper Derby
The commissary will host a diaper derby April 21 at 10 a.m. Prizes to include strollers, play pens, activity centers and more.
To participate, register at the cash office or call 244-5591 by April 14.

Chiefs Steakout
The Fairchild Chiefs Group hosts a steakout 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 25 in Hangar 2. Price is $7.00. Meal includes steak, baked potato, salad Louisiana-style beans and soda. See any chief on base for tickets.

Volunteer recognition
The Airman and Family Readiness Center hosts a Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at Club Fairchild 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 1. To attend the event contact your first sergeant. For information, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 247-2246.

Bulk item pick-up
Personnel living in Fort Wright Village, Officer Capehart and Senior Officer Housing have bulk item pick-up May 17. Those living in Galena Station, NCO Capehart, and the main base and survival dormitories have bulk item pick-up May 24.
· Items must be less than 10 feet long
· Items must weigh less than 300 pounds
· No hazardous materials are accepted
Typical items include:
· Appliances, furniture, lawn mowers
· Tires, bikes, electronics
· Goodwill items (marked with "Goodwill)

The Fairchild Air Force Base Sports Range offers great discounts on firearms and paintball equipment.
