Fairchild upgrades inns, surpasses Air Force standards

A year in planning and implementation, Fairchild Inns recently cut the ribbon and officially opened its new visitors' quarters. The building was first constructed in 1986 as an Airmen's dormitory and was later signed over to Fairchild Inns in 1992.

Its original lodging function was limited to housing single, enlisted troops because rooms had shared baths. According to David Falconer, lodging manager, this current renovation is indicative of the high standard of Fairchild Inns operations and exemplifies how important quality of life is to Inns' management.

"This quality of life improvement exceeds the minimum space and privacy standards for Air Force Inns," he said. "With 360 square feet of living space, the renovation allows us to accommodate all ranks in this facility."

The project included new paint, carpet, wallpaper, wall décor, furnishings and converted private baths. Fairchild Inns now offers 23 additional two-room suites with private baths ready for Fairchild's visitors.
