Force Development Roadshow cruises into Fairchild Published April 24, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Kali L. Gradishar 92nd ARW Public Affairs Office FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The Force Development Roadshow from Air Mobility Command Headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., discussed current Air Force issues during two briefings Friday in the base theater here. The first briefing was for enlisted Airmen. Chief Master Sgt. Marcus Hadeed, AMC's chief of Airman assignments, provided information on existing matters and answered questions from the enlisted audience members. An officer briefing on similar subjects of force development and other Air Force changes followed, with Col. Jim Miner and Capt. Tina Randall taking the floor. The briefings focused on a variety of key issues that are effecting and will affect future Airmen, from the lowest enlisted ranks to the highest-ranked officer. The topics covered included basic usage of the virtual Military Personnel Flight and Air Force Personnel Center websites, as well as the merging of mission support squadrons with services squadrons, promotion basics, one-page enlisted and officer performance reports, force shaping, permanent change-of-station budget, and 365-day deployments. "This is about developing the force we need to get the mission done. We have to ask what we can do to make it better," said Captain Randall. "We are trying to develop as a leading expeditionary force, ready to fight." One point Colonel Miner stressed was the importance of performance. As with any mission, high-quality performance is favorably looked upon by superiors and peers alike. "Performance feeds into everything in all other categories," he said. "Performance will get you places." The hosts made sure to point out the positive aspects of what some may view as a negatively-changing force, easing concern and apprehensions about some of the changes. "This is opportunity. Don't look at this as a negative thing," said Colonel Miner. "Good people may be leaving the Air Force, but good people are staying too." The members of the audience were able to interact with AMC's Roadshow hosts, asking questions on topics that may affect them, as well as the Airmen they are responsible for. The hosts answered each question to the best of their ability and noted that the audience's questions were justifiable and would be taken into consideration for future changes. The Roadshow ended with Colonel Miner thanking the audience for their participation and for showing that the future of the Air Force is valuable to Team Fairchild.
