Air Force Assistance Fund campaign extended
Contributions to the Air Force Assistance Fund can be made through May 4.

60th Anniversary Speakers Symposium
Fairchild will welcome retired Col. Arnie Weinman, retired Col. Frank Potter, retired Maj. Edward Majeski, retired Chief Master Sgt. Duane Wolfe, and retired Chief Master Sgt. Tom Pauley during the wing's next 60th Anniversary Speakers Symposium installment April 27. The invited guests are five Airmen, now retired, who have been stationed at Fairchild at some point in their distinguished careers. Throughout the day, the guests will talk to selected audiences about their Air Force careers and Air Force heritage. All Fairchild Airmen are invited to attend the United States Air Force & 92nd Air Refueling Wing's 60th Anniversary Symposium at Club Fairchild at 3:30 p.m.

Volunteer recognition
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at Club Fairchild 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 1. To attend the event, contact your first sergeant. For information, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 247-2246.

Officer's Spouses' Club dinner
The Fairchild Officer's Spouses' Club will hold a scholarship dinner May 2 at Club Fairchild to recognize the 11 graduating seniors and two military spouses who were awarded with OSC scholarships. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with a social time to meet the winners. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. Col. Roger Watkins, 92nd Air Refueling Wing vice commander, is scheduled as the guest speaker. Bloomsday Run volunteers needed
The 2007 Bloomsday Run organizers are looking for 70-80 people to volunteer in assisting more than 40,000 runners and walkers find their start locations during the 31st Bloomsday Run May 6 from 7 to 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Emily Huttinger or Master Sgt. Sheila Haley at 247-5935.

First sergeant's dorm barbecue
Fairchild first sergeants will host a free barbecue for dorm residents May 4 from 2 - 4:30 p.m. in the dormitory common area. Civilian attire is encouraged and games such as volleyball and horseshoes will be available. For more information, contact any first sergeant.

Pet Show
There will be a pet show at the Base Exchange starting at 9 a.m. May 5 in front of the building. Participants must pre-register by May 4 at the manager's office. There will be 10 categories. Prizes include gift cards. A pet groomer will be available.

Palace Chase briefing
A Palace Chase briefing will be held in the Military Personnel Flight conference room (Bldg. 2245, room 227A) May 10 at 1 p.m. The briefing is open to all ranks.
Palace Chase is an early release program which allows active-duty personnel to transfer to the Air Force Reserve before their established date of separation.

Military spouse appreciation
A Military Spouse Appreciation Day celebration will be held at the Airman and Family Readiness Center 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 11. All military spouses and their families are invited for a barbecue and open house. Military Spouse Appreciation day was established in 1984 by President Reagan as the Friday before Mother's Day.

Bulk item pick-up
Personnel living in Fort Wright Village, Officer Capehart and Senior Officer Housing have bulk item pick-up May 17. Those living in Galena Station, NCO Capehart, and the main base and survival dormitories have bulk item pick-up May 24.
· Items must be less than 10 feet long
· Items must weigh less than 300 pounds
· No hazardous materials are accepted
Typical items include:
· Appliances, furniture, lawn mowers
· Tires, bikes, electronics
· Goodwill items (marked with "Goodwill")

Golf tournament
5th Annual Society of American Military Engineers Golf Tournament takes place June 1 at the Wandermere Golf Course. Shotgun start for the best ball scramble is at 7 a.m. Entry fee is $65 per player or $240 for a foursome. Price includes a round of golf, a cart and an all-you-can-eat hamburger and salad lunch. The tournament is open to SAME members and nonmembers; proceeds benefit the SAME Lewis and Clark Post Scholarship Fund. Tournament sponsorship opportunities are available for $100, $200 and $325. Air conditioner brackets
Fairchild's new air conditioner brackets are the required standard installation method for window air conditioners in family housing. The brackets are available for family housing occupants (limit of two brackets per household) at the Family Housing Office, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Installation instructions and parts are included in the package. Housing Inspectors will be available to answer questions. Air conditioner brackets will be included this year's summer inspections.
