Education Briefs Published May 3, 2007 FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Fairchild education opportunities include: Technical Management degree Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers associate and bachelor's degrees in Technical Management. The program is for working adults with a background in a technical specialty. Receive up to 15 credits toward your degree for prior experience and training including CLEP, DANTES and certain military and industrial programs. The degree program may be completed either in the classroom or online and is open to military personnel, family members and civilians. Study Skills class This seminar is designed for military personnel, civilians and dependents returning to college after a long absence. The course introduces students to time management in order to balance the demands of school and working life. Other modules include memory, reading for comprehension and test-taking tips. In this course the student will assess their learning style, make a study calendar and establish goals. Classes are July 11, Aug. 8 and Sept. 12 at the education center, room 103, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary. Southern Illinois University Southern Illinois University grants up to 44 semester hours for past work experience and Air Force training. Summer term begins May 5. Community Colleges of Spokane Registration for Community Colleges of Spokane's spring II term, starting May 22, is open at the education center. Air University Air University new Associate-Bachelor Cooperative (AU-ABC) Degree Program The vision of our Air force leaders is to provide distance learning and bachelor's degree opportunities for Airmen. The AU-ABC initiative establishes partnerships between the Air Force and accredited civilian higher education institutions to offer baccalaureate degree opportunities via distance learning. AU-ABC degree programs will be linked to one or more Air Force relevant degree program currently offered by Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). Proposals are currently being accepted from civilian institutions. The AF Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) will serve as the gateway to these post-CCAF degree programs with the goal of beginning implementation for student enrollment in June 2007. Students should make arrangements to receive their books prior to the first day of class; however, students enrolling during the add/drop period should request next-day delivery to prevent course delay. - Park students must successfully complete the Writing Competency Test and EN306 before registering for MG401, MG495, HR491, and MK491. These prerequisites will not be waived. Also, all core requirements must be complete in order to enroll in MG495. Students wishing to enroll in other courses for which they do not have the required prerequisites must obtain a waiver of the prerequisites. Call 244-2020 for information. - Park University's Fairchild campus center offers the Writing Competency Test (WCT) May 15, 22 and 29. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. The WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after test date. Failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation. Call 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the WCT. - Effective July 1, Park University will not accept standardized testing (DANTES/CLEP, etc.) for CS140, Intro to Computers.
