Conserving energy one computer at a time
In an effort to conserve energy and save resources, Headquarters Air Mobility Command has directed all computers and associated peripherals be powered down when not needed for patching or security scans. Power down unused PCs at the end of the duty day with the exception of Tuesdays. At the end of each Tuesday users should restart their PC to allow required software updates and/or security patches. Also, leave your PCs powered on during the first Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the month for a sweep and scan of the AMC domain. All 24-hour work centers must restart PCs each evening at shift change.
This initiative should result in an estimated savings of $140 thousand annually at Fairchild alone. If you have questions, contact the 92nd Communications Squadron Helpdesk at 247-2666.
