Upcoming Events: Sept. 1 - 30: Archery-only deer hunt The season for archery-only deer hunting begins Sept. 1 and runs through Sept. 30. Sign-up is either at Bldg. 2451, Suite 155; the Environmental Flight, or at the Sports Range. A safety briefing and competency test is required. Sept. 2 - Oct. 1: Indoor soccer registration Children ages 5 - 12 can be registered for indoor soccer between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. from Sept. 2 - Oct. 1 at the Youth Center. Cost per child is $40. Sept. 3: Fall Education Fair Military members, spouses, civilians and high school seniors are invited to attend the Fall Education Fair from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Education Center. Sept. 4: Retiree Appreciation Day Armed forces retirees are invited to attend a day of informational services tailored to educate retirees on their benefits at 9 a.m. Sept. 4. The 92nd Medical Group will discuss medical programs available to retirees; the 92nd Services Squadron will discuss upcoming events and programs that they offer; Base Exchange and Commissary representatives will inform guests of upcoming events; military personnel flight members will describe Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and identification card issues; the director for Retiree Activities Office from the Tri-Cities area will attend; and various representatives from the Spokane Veterans Association will also join to talk about veterans issues, as well as many other guest speakers. Arrive by 8:30 a.m. to register. Sept. 5: Back to school party at the Funspot The Funspot is hosting a back to school party from 4 - 10 p.m. Sept. 5. Sept. 6: Fairchild Half-Marathon and 10K The Fairchild Half-Marathon and 10K is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 6. and is open to all members of Fairchild age 18 and older. Registration is free to all, and will remain open until the day of the event. Medallions will be given to the top three placing men and women in the over 30 and under categories for both events. Also, the Fitness Center will sponsor the registration fees for the top individuals who are also participating in the Air Force Marathon. Sept. 11: America Supports You Freedom Walk On Sept. 11 join the walk for freedom in America's second annual Freedom Walk event starting at Waterfront Park in Medical Lake, Wash. Last year, more than 135 Freedom Walks were held across the U.S. to honor the victims of 9/11, reflect on the freedoms we have in America and pay tribute to our veterans, past and present. Sept. 12: Car care class for spouses of deployed members 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle maintenance experts present a car care class at 10 a.m. Sept. 12. The class is for spouses of deployed members to learn how to peoperly care for a car and make the investment last. Checking fluids, installing a spare tire, jump starting a vehicle and assembling an emergency roadside kit are just a few of the items to be covered in the class. Contact Maj. Sept. 13: Operation Home Front event at Miller Park The Airman & Family Readiness Center will be sponsoring its quarterly Operation Home Front event at noon Sept. 13 at Miller Park. There will be a free barbeque and matinee movie for spouses and families of deployed members. The event allows spouses and families of deployed members the chance to meet new friends, exchange ideas for future events, get valuable information on the challenges of deployments and have a great time. The barbeque will run between noon - 2 p.m.; the movie starts at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 - 20: Fall case lot sale The Fairchild Commissary will be holding their Fall Case Lot Sale from 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sept 18 - 19. Sept. 19 - 21: Horse and Mule International On Sept. 19 -21 the North Idaho Draft Horse and Mule International will be presenting its 32nd season. There will be three days of shows, great food and shopping at the Bonner County Fairgrounds in Sandpoint, Idaho. There are two shows on Friday and Saturday and one show on Sunday. Family members can now talk directly to loved ones in some deployed locations. Stop by from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. during the week or call the A&FRC at 247-2246 to schedule an appointment during after hours use. They also have web cameras to check out for home use. Available readiness and deployment information is available for your family needs. Car wash closure The Auto Hobby Center's automatic car wash unit will be closed until Sept. 8. The flight chief is responsible for all aspects of operations; implementing policies, programs and procedures; and providing leadership, guidance and direction to the faculty support staff and students. The flight chief also supervises and/or evaluates a faculty of five and is responsible for training the faculty. He or she interfaces with Air Force and civic organizations to enhance support for enlisted professional military education, recruits and selects faculty; manages all resource programs: manpower, money, equipment and facilities; and plans, manages, and hosts graduation ceremonies. Practices are held at the indoor pool; all levels of experience are welcome and swim all year round. There is the Aqua Aviators Novice Swim Team novice swim team which meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4 - 5 p.m. Participants are 18 years and under. Cost per month is $25. The Masters Swim Team meets Monday and Wednesday from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Participants are over the age of 18, and is free of charge. Monthly swim meets are held if you are interested in participating. Courses offered: Study Skills - This seminar is designed for military, civilians or dependents returning to college after a long absence. The class is scheduled for Sept. 10.
