Diamond Sharp: Airman 1st Class Chance Smith Published March 25, 2009 By Senior Airman Emerald Ralston 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Each month Airmen are selected for their outstanding service to Fairchild Air Force Base and their country. Airman 1st Class Chance Smith was one of those Airmen in March. Airman Smith is a video documentation specialist with the 336th Training Squadron. His job consists of providing video support for two Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape training squadrons, which conduct 15 SERE courses and a helicopter squadron. He also provides digital video products to be used in multimedia, interactive courseware and satellite communication, as well as supporting briefings and demonstrations that are shown to 13,000 Air Force and Department of Defense students. "I think I earned this award because I have great leadership that constantly holds me accountable, knows my goals and makes sure I am working to achieve them," he said. "Also, my wife gives me a lot of support every day and is constantly inspiring me to be a better person." Airman Smith has never won the Diamond Sharp award before but says he hopes it isn't the last time. "It is always nice to be recognized in a positive way," he said. "It is good to know you have people that notice how much pride and effort goes into your work and it makes you want to continue working hard, knowing there is always an opportunity to be recognized again."
