Volunteer recognition
Col. Robert Thomas, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, awards Alan Armitage the 2009 Phoenix Spouse Volunteer of the Year Award for his “volunteerism and selfless service,” here April 23. Mr. Armitage organized a unit-wide Halloween Parade and Decorating Contest, built a Family Network/ Phoenix Spouse Web site, and enhanced database and contact data from for spouse communication. He ensured single Airman and deployers were remembered and included in special events. He volunteered at the Air Show, coached Youth Sports, and used his many skills to enhance programs and activities at Fairchild and in the Spokane community. The other awards included the 2009 Military Volunteer of the Year Award, Captain Julian Benton, 92nd Air Refueling Squadron. Also the 2009 Civilian Volunteer of the Year Award winner Rhonda Perry, and the 92nd ARW Joan Orr Air Force Spouse of the Year Award nominee Mrs. Monica Williams.
