Blues Tip of the Month Published April 24, 2009 FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Attaché cases, gym bags, backpacks and hand bags There are specific rules governing the wear of attache cases, gym bags, backpacks and hand bags. Airmen should be aware of the regulations governing colors, sizes and proper wear that is authorized in uniform combinations. Below is important information concerning information about proper uniform wear. All bags must be carried in the left hand, on the left shoulder or on both shoulders. They should not interfere with rendering a proper salute. Attaché case · Black only Gym bags · Black or dark blue only (Air Force logo authorized) Backpacks · Solid-color black, olive drab or woodland camouflage only with Battle Dress Uniform · Solid-color black authorized for all blues uniform combinations · Conservative manufacturer's logo is allowed · Members may wear backpack using one or both shoulder straps. if only one shoulder strap is used, the bag must be on the left shoulder. Hand Bags · Plain black leather or vinyl · Ornamentation in not allowed · With or without plain fold-over flap · With or without single-placed silver or gold clasp · May have up to two adjustable shoulder straps with or without buckles · May be patent leather or high gloss · May not exceed 13 x 9 x 4 1/2 inches deep Clutch Style · Plain-black smooth or scotch-grain leather, patent leather, or high gloss, or manmade material without ornamentation · Fabric, suede or patent leather with mess dress, formal dress and ceremonial dress · Purse will be no larger than 6 1/2 x 11 inches or smaller than 5 x 9 inches. · Must have a concealed closure and may have a wrist strap. EXCEPTION: Do not use patent leather purse when wearing semi-formal dress.
