It's back! Fairchild's newspaper, the Fairchild Flyer, will be distributed on base each Friday and will contain all the information you're used to reading in the weekly e-Connection and on the base Web site, www.fairchild.af.mil.

After months of deliberation and demographic research, in order to keep up with the changing face of our Air Force and reach all intended audiences, the hardcopy newspaper is back and here to stay.

The 92nd Air Refueling Wing's Public Affairs Office will be working with the Cheney Free Press to ensure timely accurate news is at your doorstep and the newsstands each Friday.

"I feel it is important to have a hardcopy newspaper that people can pick up at the newsstands and dig into," said Col. Robert Thomas, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander. "This is a visible, tangible way to get the news out to our community here at Fairchild. We're taking an already excellent product and pushing it that extra inch to outstanding. With this, we'll reach a wider variety of people and extend our reach further into the local community."

The new paper will include news from the 92nd and 141st Air Refueling Wings, as well as articles from the 336th Training Group, to keep all members of Team Fairchild in-the-know.

Many people were disappointed at the termination of the base news paper, the Fairchild Connection, back in 2007, but the Cheney Free Press is determined to provide Team Fairchild with a product that will reinstate the hardcopy news paper as a permanent fixture of Fairchild.

"There are a lot of people who look forward to having the hardcopy newspaper, and I encourage everyone to pick up a copy and make suggestions to the Public Affairs office about what could make this paper great and shape it to the interests of our Airmen at Fairchild," Colonel Thomas said

Some of Fairchild's leadership went to the news presses at Cheney Free Press to get a feel for how everything works and what goes into how the product is assembled and can vouch for the man hours and elbow grease the Cheney Free Press have put in to creating this product for Fairchild.

"The dedication and time the members of the Cheney team put into this paper is really impressive," said Col. Blaine Holt, 92nd ARW vice commander. "I have no doubt they will deliver a superb product to Fairchild each week."

Submissions for the Fairchild Flyer can be submitted to the Public Affairs office. Deadline for submission is no later than noon Friday prior to the week of publication. Submissions can be sent to e-connection@fairchild.af.mil or call the Public Affairs office at 247-5705.
