Washington National Guard welcomes home 141st Security Forces Flight

The Washington National Guard welcomed home from Iraq approximately 40 citizen airmen from the 141st Security Forces in a ceremony Feb. 25 at Fairchild Air Force Base.

The citizen airmen from the 141st have completed a six month mobilization serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Missions for 141st in Iraq typically focused on base defense and resource protection.

"We are all extremely proud of these dedicated airmen, and we look forward to seeing the 141st Security Forces reunited with their families," said Major General Timothy J. Lowenberg, the Adjutant General and Commander of the Washington National Guard.

The 141st Security Forces is headquartered at Fairchild Air Force Base, and they entered federal active duty on July 5, 2009. After conducting pre-deployment training at Fort Bliss Texas, they deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 12 of the deployed Security Force members also serve in local police departments.

The citizen soldiers and airmen of The Washington National Guard are dedicated to the mission of safeguarding lives and property in Washington State, and serving as sentinels for freedom overseas.
