The Fairchild commissary will be having a sale in Moses Lake, Wash. Feb. 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale will be open to all active duty, National Guard, Reserve, military retirees and dependents.

"We are extremely pleased to be able to bring our goods to that area," said Mr. Bill Carroll, Fairchild Commissary store administrator. "Now that we have our Airmen working down there for the next year, it's a perfect time to go so they can take advantage of the sale along with the Guard and Reserve."

The Fairchild commissary is doing this as part of a program to expand its reach to Guard and Reserve members in areas with military populations not served by a nearby commissary.

"The Guard and Reserve have, and continue to be deployed in significant numbers alongside their active-duty counterparts," said Thomas E. Milks, the Defense Commissary Agency's deputy director. "So the Department of Defense gave the DECA a mandate to expand the benefit to the reserve forces. We knew these sales were an ingenious way to do it; we knew we had an eager customer base that lived too far from commissaries to shop; and we knew if we could come up with an official program to promote the sales and operate them efficiently, it would help us meet the mandate and create much goodwill."

Sale items may include paper products, soap and cleaning products, canned goods, sodas, sports drinks, water, laundry detergents and a variety of other products.

The Fairchild commissary, operated by DECA, provides groceries at low cost to military personnel, retirees and their families. Shoppers save an average of 30 percent or more on their purchases compared to commercial prices.

Customers must present an appropriate DoD identification card that authorizes commissary privileges in order to shop at this on-site sale. Cash, checks, debit cards and credit cards are accepted for payment. The use of coupons is also highly encouraged.

"We hope people will be able to take advantage of our sale," Mr. Carroll said. "We are pretty sure that there are a lot of military-affiliated people in the area who can benefit from this sale - along with our Fairchild Airmen."

The sale will be held at the Moses Lake Army National Guard Armory, 6500 32nd Ave. Moses, Lake, Wash. For directions go to http://mapq.st/h/2-PTGu.
