The travel management office opened a cyber cafe today for customers who are moving as part of a permanent change of station to and from Fairchild.

The cafe will be open Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., closing at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. The three computers in the cafe will replace the 40-minute briefing and will enable customers to log onto the defense personal property system with available help logistics professionals.

"It's great because if customers need assistance they have us right here to help them as opposed to before when they had to do it at home and wait for a log-on and call us if they needed help," said Senior Airman Chardonnay Hamilton, 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron traffic management counselor.

This will not only save customer's time, but it will make the process much easier for them as they self counsel themselves with our assistance, Airman Hamilton said.

"I'm getting ready to move and this is a really great idea that will streamline the process and I really like the fact that there will be staff on hand," said Capt. David Blomgren, 92nd Air Refueling Wing legal office assistant staff judge advocate. "I've used DPS before and for me it was initially difficult because I couldn't find exactly where to go for my specific need. Once I found where to go it was easy, so having someone there to at least get people started will be helpful."

If customers are inbound they can also use the cafe to update shipment information and file claims. If they're ready for drop off they can arrange a date for the shipment to be released.

Additionally the office plans to put up a board for people to advertise items free and for sale items such as furniture, electronics and appliances they're leaving behind for incomers in need of these items to pick up.
