The Roger A. Ross and Warrior dining facilities are scheduled to undergo some important construction furthering Aramark's ability to better serve Team Fairchild.

"I think it will really make a difference," said Staff Sgt. Samantha Ferrell, 92nd Force Support Squadron quality assurance and evaluation NCO in charge. "I've lived here for six years and have seen significant changes made to the quality of life here at Fairchild, but this will have a huge impact on base morale - everyone needs to eat."

Fairchild is one of six bases to get the upgrade. The other bases include: Travis AFB, Calif., Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Patrick AFB, Fla., Macdill AFB, Fla., and Little Rock AFB, Ark.

According to the 92nd FSS commander, Maj. Randy Bailey, the upgrade is planned to include a streamlined serving area to include more food options for Airmen.

"Overall, this will provide us with an enhanced and more efficient serving line," he said. "The great thing about our dining facilities is that they are for everyone who eats. The renovations will help facilitate our 'Food Transformation Initiative' partners, Aramark, bring their campus vision to Fairchild."

This vision is one the company believes full-heartedly in. This support the major said is fundamentally important for Fairchild's Airmen as Aramark has already invested some $300,000 in the renovation of the Funspot and Final Point on-base restaurants.

"What we're really look forward to is the wider variety of healthy options to be available to our Airmen and everybody on base," said 1st Lt. Michael Liechty, 92nd FSS food service officer. "Our dining facilities were built with a very different vision than Aramark's 20 to 30 years ago. So these changes will effectively modernize these facilities well into the foreseeable future."

The lieutenant added the upgrades would hoist Fairchild's dining facilities to industry standards outside the military.

Construction at the 336th Training Group's Roger A. Ross Dining Facility is scheduled to begin April 17 with an estimated completion date of June 18 this year. While the Ross is closed, the Final Point will be open for a lunch buffet, details, however, are still in the works.

Construction at the Warrior Dining Facility is scheduled to begin May 1 with an estimated completion date of July 10 this year. While the Warrior is closed, the Funspot will be open for a lunch buffet, details, however, are also still in the works.

The Flightline Feeding Facility will be the alternate location for the Warrior during this time, although the FFF is only available to meal card holders and alert and emergency responders.

A breakfast buffet may be available at each of these alternate locations, however, Liechty said his team is still pinning down the details with Aramark, so stay tuned to the base's Facebook page [www.facebook.com/FairchildAFB] for ongoing updates.
