Name: Senior Airman Jessica Marie Medina

Unit: 92nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Duty Title: Instruments and Flight Controls Technician

Hometown: El Paso, Texas

Years in Service: 2.5

Why I joined: I joined for the opportunity to try something new and different.

Family: Fiancé Bryan (As soon as he gets me a puppy!)

Favorite aspect of job: Getting my hands dirty.

Hobbies: Read, leaning to play bass guitar and stargaze

Role Model: My mother

Most memorable Air Force experience: Meeting the AMC Commander while I was working on the flightline and volunteering for a local kindergarten school while on my first deployment.

How do you make responsible choices: I think of what I expect from my superiors or someone I look up to and make my decisions based off of that.

Reason for nomination: Medina was identified a faulty roll transducer causing a flight data recorder to fail, eliminating a recurring aircraft discrepancy. Additionally, she deployed in support of operation enduring freedom in which time she launched 144 sorties and executed more than 200 maintenance actions on 16 aircraft. This directly contributed to the offload of 57 million pounds of fuel to close to nearly 5,000 receivers.

Furthermore, while deployed she donated several hours to a school that needed repair. Finally, her expertise was invaluable during a base exercise, pinpointing a faulty flight control auto-pilot system computer, enabling the first 12-ship KC-135 launch in 17 years."

[Editor's Note: Medina is also the Air Mobility Command command chief's Airman of the Week.]
