Meet the Warrior of the Week -- Senior Airman Cory Douglas is a 376 Expeditionary Air Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment journeyman from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. He is a native of Denver, Colo. Here's what Douglas had to say about himself and his deployment. What do you do on a daily basis at the Transit Center? I Maintain and service ground support equipment. I also provide safe, serviceable and reliable equipment to help service all aircraft on a daily basis. What do you enjoy about being at the Transit Center? It's my home away from home away from home, and it is easier to see the results of all my hard work here. Why did you choose to serve in the military? I joined for several reasons, but if I had to pick one, I would say it was because I had been a bartender for about six years before I joined. I got sick of being an enabler and decided that I wanted to do something a bit nobler with my life. How do you feel about your contributions to the Transit Center mission and current operations in the AOR? I feel that me doing my job to the best of my abilities helps provide the equipment needed to support our aircraft in defense of our nation's interests. Family: father and sister Time at the Transit Center: This is my second tour, and I have been here two months of this tour. Time in military: four years Greatest accomplishment: Making Staff Sergeant my first time testing. Goals you want to achieve or meet while at the Transit Center? I want to finish the first part of my 7-level career development course and do some humanitarian assistance work with the kindergarten and orphanage. Hobbies: drawing or anything involving art, watching movies and playing video games. Your best habit: taking control of a situation when I don't like the way things are going Favorite movies: almost anything with zombies. Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her? My favorite mentor is my mother, for reasons too innumerous to list. If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why? I would spend time with my girlfriend Kim, because I haven't been able to see her in a while.
