Leaving the old behind Published Feb. 19, 2013 By Senior Airman Jordan Pollock 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- As of Feb. 7, Team Fairchild members requesting or approving leave were made to register for LeaveWeb 4.0 - the newest version of LeaveWeb, replacing the original version used since 1999. The old system left gaps in the accuracy of leave accountability and LeaveWeb 4.0 makes it easier to track leave balances. The new system is user friendly and allows members to see their current balance, any use or lose balance and available estimated time of separation balance every time they logon, said Staff Sgt. Alisha Moore, 92nd Comptroller Squadron military pay supervisor. The system requires a common access card so members are required to register first. A new link will be available on the portal to access the new system, said Master Sgt. Sonyetta Charlton-Bell, 92nd Force Support Squadron superintendent of the military personnel section. After registering, the member's account will follow them to all of their assignments. It is important that the member keeps their profile up-to-date with their current supervisor's information, said Moore. "Before LeaveWeb 4.0, we had to manually input leave balances into the old system with each newin-bound Airman," said Moore. "Sometimes it could be a long process because we had to verify leave balances with MPF. This system makes managing leave balances easier." Some of the new features that LeaveWeb 4.0 offers include: · Allows all 18 types of leave to be managed from a central location for system and audit purposes · Establishes a hierarchical view capability from the Air Force level, through the various organizations, to the individual members · Requires digital signatures for all requesting and approving levels of military leave · Maintains approved DD 2875 (submitted for special privileges) within the system · Eliminates the use of tracking numbers to search for leave in the system "The new LeaveWeb will require less paperwork, making it easier to submit leave," said Charlton-Bell. "These new changes make taking leave more private and empower the service member to have more control." Fairchild Airmen submit more than 100 leave requests per month on average.
