Clear Lake opens for the season!

Clear Lake Resort officially opened Saturday, April 27. A 12-hour fishing derby was held on opening day, starting the event at midnight and going till noon on Saturday with breakfast from 6-10 a.m.

"My son and I celebrated the fishing derby at Clear Lake this weekend," said Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander. "It is such a wonderful facility and recreation center open for our Airmen and their families."

Clear Lake Recreation Area provides fishing, water skiing, swimming and boating for off-duty Fairchild Air Force Base personnel, including active duty, retired military, National Guard, active members of the Reserves, Department of Defense civilian employees and family members.

"This year's opening held the largest turn out ever," said Damian Smith, 92nd Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation Center director. "It was a huge event with zero mishaps. The customers and the staff did a great job keeping it safe and making sure everyone had a great time."

Clear Lake also offers picnic areas and camping opportunities, including RV sites and cabins. Boat rentals are also available.

Clear Lake is located at S. 14824 Clear Lake Road, Cheney, WA 99004. The recreation area's last day open for the year is Sep. 6.
