Sequestration Changes Facility Hours

Sequestration continues to affect Fairchild Airmen and families this summer. The latest impacts include hours of operation at the Warrior Dining Facility and the opening of the outdoor base pool.

Based on the food transformation contract fiscal constraints, the Air Force has directed a change in current operating hours, said Lt. Col. R. Sean Bailey, 92nd Force Support Squadron commander.

Beginning June 17, the dining facility hours are limited Monday through Friday to 5:30 - 8:30 a.m. for breakfast. Lunch hours are limited to 10:30 -1:30 p.m. Dinner hours are limited to 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays hours are also limited to 6:30 - 0830 a.m. for breakfast, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 -6:30 p.m. for dinner.

The dining facility will be open between meal periods for Grab 'N' Go meals or food only, and there is no change to midnight meal or flight kitchen hours of operation. The Ross Dining Facility will not be affected, based on training mission needs.

Also starting the same day, patrons are required to bus their own tables.

"These changes are small," said Master Sgt. Miranda Drummond, Dining Facility manager. "Bussing carts will be available in the facility, and you just put your tray in and go."

The outdoor pool is also affected this summer. Its opening is delayed until July 1.

"The decision was to delay opening to recapture valuable funds and because June's weather is usually hit or miss and customer usage is very low," said Damian Smith, director of Outdoor Recreation. "Swim lessons are, however, extended one week longer than usual, so we won't have a very large impact on our customer base."
