Name: Staff Sgt. Callie Hanover

Unit: 92nd Maintenance Operations Squadron

Duty title: Maintenance Group Scheduler

What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild Air Force Base? I am responsible for the overall management of upgrade training, ancillary, contingency and formal training. I compile and report training and deployment statistics to headquarters, groups and unit levels. I also prepare directives, instructions and training materials for management control and administration of unit level training programs.

What do you enjoy about your job? I have always been an organizer. That is what I enjoy about my job most, organizing and making tasks run smoothly.

Why did you choose to serve in the military? When I was in fourth grade, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up so I told him a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force. He then told me women didn't belong in the Air Force, let alone as mechanics. From that day on, I strived to do so.

What goals do you want to achieve or meet while at the Fairchild Air Force Base? Finish my Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management (July 15th). I also hope to make Tech. Sgt. this year and get accepted into Officer Training School.

What is your favorite quote? "If you get up one more time than you fall down, you will make it through."

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her? My parents are my favorite mentors. My mother has taught me to be a very caring person. She has the biggest heart I've ever seen. My father has taught me that being happy and laughing is very important in life.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why? Amelia Earhart, hands down. I have always idolized her and she is such an accomplished woman. Amelia Mary Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and author and was the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She received the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross for her accomplishments. She also set many other records; she wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, and organization for female pilots. I hope to be as accomplished as her one day.
