Youth Supervision Policy Published June 18, 2013 By Airman 1st Class Ryan Zeski 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- An updated Youth Supervision policy has been released by the Family Advocacy office at Fairchild Air Force Base. This policy applies to all children on Fairchild Air Force Base until they graduate from high school. It contains guidelines for children of all ages and specific scenarios and what to do for each one when leaving children unattended. The only change states that children ages seven through nine are now allowed to be left in a vehicle unattended only if the vehicle is not running and the keys are removed with a time limit of five minutes in hot weather and a maximum limit of 15 minutes in other weather conditions. "This youth supervision policy is to help parents stay informed so they don't unknowingly put someone in danger," said Dawn Altmaier, 92nd Air Refueling Wing community support coordinator. With school being out for the summer it could benefit parents to look over the policy and become familiar with what to do in each situation. "The main goal is to make sure our children are safe," said Altmaier. For more information on the youth supervision policy contact Family Advocacy at (509) 247-2687.
