Fairchild Airmen’s Running Team…FART? Published July 16, 2013 By Senior Airman Taylor Curry 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- "Come FART with us" would probably sound strange if you didn't know what it meant. Well you may or may not know that Fairchild has its own running team that meets every week. Fairchild Airmen's Running Team is a group that has been running strong for about four years now and consists of enlisted, officer, spouse and family members all from Fairchild. The club started with about five members and has evolved since then. The goal behind the club is to promote a healthy lifestyle while having a good time. "It's a way of promoting fitness and fellowship in an informal setting," said Staff Sgt. Sean Devereaux, FART president. "We keep it fun and there is no pressure to run a certain pace. Walkers, joggers, strollers, runners and even dogs are welcome to take part." The team meets every Tuesday and usually runs two to three miles, always trying to find new paths to venture. "Anyone can come out and run," said Devereaux. "We even do themed runs that change weekly such as zombies, superheroes and business attire." If you plan on staying with the team for awhile, after running six times, you are eligible for a FART t-shirt, added Devereaux. If interested in joining the team, all you have to do is show up at the Winners Circle at the Funspot when the team meets on Tuesdays at 4:50 p.m.
