Lt. Col. Jeremy “Grimm” Gould assumed command of the 509th Weapons Squadron from Lt. Col. John “Yakko” Kelley during a change of command ceremony June 23.

“To the men and women of the 509th WPS, we all know we are a selectively manned squadron. It puts a selective group of individuals together and during that time we’ve learned a lot from each other,” said Gould. “We’ve learned how to be better officers, better NCOs, better aviators and better intelligence analysts. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to learn.”

Gould entered the Air Force as a communications officer after graduating from the Oklahoma State University Reserve Officer Training Corps program, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2002. He is a senior navigator with more than 2,100 flight hours in various aircraft.

“I’m excited to be here and I’m excited to not only work for you but beside you both in the trenches and out,” said Gould.

His decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster, an Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and an Aerial Achievement Medal.

“The great thing about the weapons school is we’re always trying to build, teach and lead that next generation,” said Col. Michael Drowley, U.S. Air Force Weapons School commandant and officiating officer for the ceremony. “That is why we are lucky to have Grimm (Gould), and now we get to have him take command of the 509th.”
