Funspot reopens at new location Published Oct. 31, 2016 By By Master Sgt. J.G. Buzanowski 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Washington -- The Funspot community center reopened Oct. 29, 2016 at its new, temporary location in the “Triple F” Force Feeding Facility, Bldg 2065, off Milford Road at the end of Hansell Avenue. The Funspot at the Triple F features a café, bounce houses, a birthday party room, movies, arcade games and a toddler play area. It’s open to everyone on base and/or who has base access.“On October 6th we closed the doors of the Funspot facility due to safety concerns with the roofing structure,” Col. Ryan Samuelson, the 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, wrote in a base-wide email. “The stinging loss of the Funspot greatly reduced the indoor recreational activities available to the Fairchild community.”The old facility housed several recreational activities including a bowling alley, snack bar, skating rink, arcade games, batting cages as well as other activities. The other buildings that surrounded it were torn down because of their age.“The Funspot has long been a central hub for Fairchild families; it was big part of the community here,” said Col. Yvonne Spencer, the 92nd Mission Support Group commander. “It was a phenomenal effort that we were able to reopen in only three weeks, and there’s a lot we can do with the Triple F. We plan to host several events for Airmen, their families and anyone else with base access. We want to continue that sense of community and give people a place to eat, relax and have fun.”While the Funspot at the Triple F has much to offer, Col. Samuelson is committed to finding a more permanent home.“I will continue to engage at every leadership level in the Air Force to find a means to build a new indoor, family-focused entertainment venue for Airmen and their families to release tension, alleviate the winter doldrums and have a positive impact on their resiliency,” Samuelson said. The Funspot is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 pm.The café is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.Both are closed on Sundays and holidays. For dorm residents, meal cards are accepted at the café.For more information, call 247-2422.
