Military Health System officials visit Fairchild Published Sept. 21, 2016 By Airman 1st Class Ryan Lackey 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Department of Defense healthcare officials met with 92nd Medical Group leadership to discuss progress of the Military Health System Genesis program Sept. 7, 2016.MHS Genesis is a Department of Defense electronic healthcare record system designed to give military medical professionals improved access to patient health records and provides safe, efficient communication between medical providers.Karen Guice, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, led the officials in a briefing with the 92nd MDG that focused on advancements made toward the release of the MHS program in early 2017.“This is all about a product needed to take care of patients,” Guice said. “We want to keep things moving forward as quickly and responsibly as possible.”Serving as the sole testing site for the U.S. Air Force, the 92nd MDG has worked throughout the year testing and training its Airmen on the program."We enjoy sharing our work with these distinguished visitors, as it allows us to illustrate our progress toward a ‘go live’ date.” said Col. Margaret Carey, 92nd MDG commander. “The Air Force is going to learn from everything we are doing here and we are really excited about that.”Guice’s team and 92nd MDG team members followed up the briefings with an extensive Q&A session to work out details in implementing the new program.“This is a team sport and it can’t work any other way,” said Stacy Cummings, Defense Healthcare Management Systems program executive officer. “This isn’t about what happens in D.C., this is about what happens here at Fairchild.”
