FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash.- -- As a 12-year-old, Christian Pugh already knew he wanted to be in the military and make a career out of it. Little did he know he would become the senior enlisted leader for more than 2,000 Airmen, and advise his commander on enlisted force issues.

As the new command chief of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, Chief Master Sgt. Christian Pugh has a vision for Fairchild Airmen to become the best Airmen they can be.

Pugh said he believes one of the best things a supervisor can do is train and develop Airmen so they can carry on the great traditions of the Air Force.

"From the first time I got here to Fairchild I quickly recognized we have a great group of professionals," Pugh said about his impression of Fairchild and its Airmen.

One of Pugh's goals is professional development, making sure the next generation of Airmen is ready to go, and prepared to take over for current leaders.

"Giving Airmen the skills, knowledge, abilities, and tools they need to be successful for the rest of their lives should be a priority," Pugh said. "That should be part of our professional development."

Volunteering for jobs outside of one's comfort zone and finding a mentor are just a few pieces of advice Pugh has for his Airmen.

"If I could give any advice to any young Airman out there, it would be to get a mentor," He said.  "We all have mentors in our front-line supervisors, but don't be afraid to get out and find a mentor outside of your organization."

Pugh also said it is important for Airmen to know their jobs and learn as much about their job as they possibly can.

Be the best Airman you can possibly be, and learn as much as you can about your job. Every Airman should strive to be the one their commander and supervisors go to, to get the job done said Pugh.

Pugh also expressed thanks to all the Airmen for what they do each and every day and concluded with a message of optimism.

"I look forward to working for you, and working with you for the next two years."
