The Fairchild Officer's Spouses Club Awards Program awarded 13 scholarships to Team Fairchild family members in 2014, and is continuing the program this year to provide more opportunities to eligible high school seniors and civilian spouses of military members.

"It's a great opportunity for any high school senior or spouse to obtain much needed funds used to higher their education," said Libby Moore, OSC administrator.

The scholarship amounts vary each year, but the average is $250 to $1,500. The funds for the scholarships come from the proceeds the Officer's Spouse Club earns at the Thrift Shop.

"There are many scholarships available, but ours is unique to any military dependent or non-military spouse," Moore said.

Civilian dependents must be a high school senior, a resident of Spokane and the surrounding area, be a legal dependent of an individual who is active duty, Guard or Reserve, and have a GPA of 3.5.

Applicants who accept a full university scholarship or grant will not be eligible to receive an OSC scholarship award. Spouses who live outside of the Spokane area or who already have a bachelor's degree are not eligible to apply.

Applications are available at the Thrift Shop and the base education office. For more information on the OSC Awards Program, please contact Libby Moore at (509) 995-1226.
