Leadership course gives CGOs the upper hand Published April 2, 2014 By 2nd Lt Rachelle Smith 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. -- For those just beginning their Air Force careers, learning unfamiliar acronyms, encountering new procedures and becoming a well-rounded leader can be a daunting task. The 92nd Air Refueling Wing Executive office has developed a course to help Fairchild's company grade officers swim instead of sink in their new positions as developing leaders in today's Air Force. "It is important to give our new officers a strong foundation or help those who have been around a while, but still have unanswered questions," 2nd Lt. Kristen Kennedy, 92nd Air Refueling Wing Executive Officer. "It is really good information that is advantageous to everyone who attends." The course covers a variety of material from performance reports, awards and managing civilian personnel to enlisted development and a squadron commander discussion panel. "We've had about 27 percent of the base CGOs go through the course, but our goal is 100 percent," Kennedy said. "The most important aspect of this course is the number of resources it gives you for the future." The next course will be held June 3 and is available every three months. Those interested in attending can sign up using the base Task Management Tool. "Our job as leaders is to grow, to become better leaders as fast as we can, so our Airmen reap the rewards of bold, decisive leadership," said Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd ARW Wing commander. "This course provides multiple tools in short order to exponentially grow our CGOs' leadership. In these challenging times, we need every tool in the tool kit to ensure we remain the world's best Airmen!" For more information, contact the 92nd ARW Executive office at (509) 247-1039.
