The following are brief notifications or updates about events happening on or around the base:

Spokane Chiefs Military Appreciation
Spokane's professional hockey team, the Chiefs, is hosting Military Appreciation Night Saturday at the Spokane Arena. The game begins at 7 p.m. against the Tri-City Americans. Global Credit Union provided 250 free tickets to members of Team Fairchild, available through first sergeants. Fairchild units will have displays at the arena showing their mission and people. Master Sgt. Anthony Arnold, 92nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, will sing the national anthem as the Fairchild Honor Guard displays the flag. Among the military members dropping the game puck will be Master Sgt. Mark Thrower, 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron. Discount tickets are available through Information, Tickets and Travel, 247-5649.

Construction scheduled at Main Gate
Sanitary sewer repair work is scheduled for Mitchell Drive through the Main Gate Feb. 10-11. The inbound lanes from U.S. Route 2 leading to the Main Gate will be reduced to one lane starting at 5 p.m. Feb. 10. Traffic will be reduced to one lane until Feb. 11 at 6:30 a.m. Please use extra caution when traveling through this area. For more information, contact Wayne Musselwhite at 247-3062.

Volunteers for Michael Anderson carnival
The Michael Anderson Elementary school Parents Teachers Organization on base is looking for volunteers to help with the school's carnival April 21. Volunteers will head committees, build sets, decorate and work a variety jobs. A carnival meeting will be held at the base library today at 5 p.m. Volunteers do not have to have a child attending Michael Anderson. For more information contact any PTO member, or call Tech. Sgt. Prenatal/postpartum Water Aerobic Classes
Water Babies and prenatal/postpartum aerobics classes have been changed to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays at the indoor pool. Cost is $1 per parent. The class is free to active-duty members. Babies from 8 weeks to 36 months old are welcome. There must be one adult per baby in the water Babies need to wear a swim diaper. For more information, call 247-3249.

Mixed martial arts training weekdays
Mixed martial arts training is available at the SERE School gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Greco Roman wrestling styles will be taught. All skill levels are welcome to learn new skills and get a full-body workout. A t-shirt, shorts and a mouth guard are the only equipment needed. For more information, contact Staff Sgt.
