Education Briefs Published March 15, 2007 FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Force Development Education courses - Officer 101 offers career maximization skills for junior officers. First and second lieutenants and captains who have not taken SOS, and enlisted personnel interested in commissioning, are eligible. The course will be held at the education center, room 105, on March 21, 8 a.m. -- noon. - Anatomy of Leadership and Influence is a course that involves understanding your strengths and qualifications, the determination for success, and achieving goals through planning and helping others. The class is open to all military and civilian personnel at the education center, room 103, on March 29, 8 a.m. -- noon. - Basic Communications teaches the basic skills necessary to communicate effectively in a military work environment. The class is open to all military and civilian personnel at the education center, room 103, on March 27, 8 -- 10 a.m. - Basic Listening Skills teaches skills that will save you time and resources, and avoid challenges, with better communication techniques. The class is open to all military and civilian personnel at the education center, room 105, on March 29, 8 -- 10 a.m. Park University Fairchild Campus - Registration will be in progress for on-site and Internet classes for Spring II (term IV) beginning Monday. Textbooks are guaranteed to be available if ordered through MBS. If students purchase textbooks from another source, Park cannot assist them with any textbook problems. Park's virtual bookstore will open three to four weeks prior to the start of classes. - Park University's Fairchild Campus Center will be offering the Writing Competency Test Tuesday and March 27, and April 3, 10, 17 and 24. - A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement; students should sign up for the WCT at least two terms before taking these classes. - WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after test date. Call 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the WCT. - Effective July 1, Park University will not accept standardized testing (DANTES, CLEP, etc.) for CS140, Intro to Computers. Students must transfer this class in or take it with Park. The registrar's office must receive scores by June 1. - Park University offers a 15-credit hour scholarship for non-military family members of active-duty personnel. If you have been a Park student for less than one year at the time of application, or you will be applying to become a student with Park for the upcoming 2007-2008 school year, with a cumulative grade point average between 3.0 and 4.0, you may be eligible for this scholarship. Southern Illinois University The off-campus degree program at Fairchild offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Workforce Education and Development. Weekend classes are available.
