A new labor agreement was signed between Col. Scott M. Hanson, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, and the Fairchild Federal Employees Union's president, David Starr May 7.

The agreement is subject to review and approval by DoD's Civilian Personnel Management Service. If approved by CPMS the new labor agreement will be effective Jun 8.

The agreement follows a three-year contract between the 92nd ARW and the FFEU signed in 2003. FFEU represents approximately 300 appropriated fund non-professional positions in various career fields such as firefighters, clerical and assistants, and trades and crafts.

Contract negotiations began on March 5, and an agreement was reached for more than 48 articles through exceptional collaboration between management and the union within approximately eight hours of negotiations.

The chief negotiator representing management was Sharon Seiber, 92nd Mission Support Squadron civilian personnel office, and the chief negotiator representing the union was Mr. Starr.

Ms. Seiber said she was pleased with the constructive and positive relationship that developed between management and the union during the bargaining process.

Team members for management were Tim Early, 92nd MSS; Ronald Daniels, 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron; Roger Timm, 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron; Stacey Young, 92nd Services Squadron; and William Nowlin, 92nd CES. Kristofer Maynard was the team member representing the union.

"It was important to focus on the interests of both parties to create a win-win solution and I believe in using this approach we created a better agreement for everyone," said Ms. Seiber.
