The following are volunteer opportunities for Fairchild community members:

Volunteers needed for Second Harvest Inland Northwest 2007 Client Survey
Second Harvest needs volunteers to help interview more than 800 clients one-on-one at Second Harvest's network of 21 emergency food outlets in Spokane County. The interviews will take place during the third week in August.

The interviews are part of Second Harvest's annual survey, the longest running food bank survey of its kind in the nation. Completely voluntary and confidential, the survey is used as a tool to measure Second Harvest's effectiveness in delivering its hunger-relief mission, and gives clients a voice regarding their struggles and needs.

Client survey volunteers must interact well with the public and should be at least 18 years old. The survey is designed to be read to each client by a volunteer, who writes down the responses on a questionnaire.

Three to four hour shifts are available Aug. 20 to 27. Volunteers may work one shift or may work the entire week. Volunteers are required to attend a training session Aug. 14 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. or Aug. 16 from noon to 12:30 p.m.
