A youth member of Team Fairchild was noticed as an Air Mobility Command FitFactor winner for the month of July.

FitFactor is an Air Force Youth Fitness program that is open to youth 6 - 18 years old who are family members of active duty, guard and reserve members, Department of Defense civilians, retired military members, honorably discharged veterans and military spouses and their family members, according to the FitFactor website.

"We are encouraging children to get up, get out and get fit," said Michelle Crawford, Youth Center school-age program coordinator. "We encourage the kids to do healthy things like setting the table and preparing a healthy meal, along with staying active."

Mallory Moore, one out of 11 July winners chosen randomly from the collection of registered FitFactor participants, received the recognition for enrolling in the FitFactor program and for following a healthy and beneficial routine.

Mallory and the other AMC winners were awarded an iPod Shuffle. Also, ten winners at each AMC base were awarded $15 iTunes Music Cards. Additional iPod and music card winners will be announced in August and September. At the conclusion of the program Sept. 30, one grand prize winner at each installation will be awarded an iPod Nano.

"We push fitness in so many ways, so it's important for the kids to get something for making the effort. The prizes are fun and in many ways relate to fitness," said Ms. Crawford. "Awarding the kids with an iPod serves two purposes. They can use them while they are walking, running or riding a bike, or they can use them while they are cleaning around the house."

Other AMC winners included Canan Hypolite, Andrews AFB; Ashley Huff, Charleston AFB; Sara McCaffrey, Dover AFB; Kyle Kletschka, Grand Forks AFB; Mekial BinBibl, MacDill AFB; Catarina Schulte, McChord AFB; Christopher Wells, McConnell AFB; Andrew Coates, McGuire AFB; Taleia Curry, Pope AFB; Kelsey Sartin, Scott AFB; and Nicholos Ratcliff, Travis AFB.

Youth earn and log points for participating in any physical activity and for making healthy eating choices. They strive to reach each FitFactor level, which are Energy, Strength, Agility, Adventure and Endurance. Prizes are earned and awarded to youth as they reach each one.

"Some of the prizes they receive for working their way through the different FitFactor levels include pedometers, water bottles and jump ropes," Ms. Crawford noted.
