Air Force Ball emcee auditions Fairchild's Air Force Ball committee is holding emcee auditions Aug. 17, 2:30 p.m., at the 92nd Mission Support Group conference room, located on the bottom floor of the White House. Farmers Market There will be a Farmers Market at the Commissary Aug. 16-18. There will be fantastic bargains and a great selection. DARE Camp Youth entering into 5th and 6th grades are eligible to sign up for DARE Camp. The camp is Aug 20 - 24, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Miller Park and will include activities focused on living in a drug-free environment. DARE Camp is also looking for mentors for the program. SNCO induction banquet A senior NCO induction banquet will be held Aug. 23 at Club Fairchild, 6 p.m. social and 6:30 p.m. start. Meal choices are Whiskey sirloin strip steak or Roman chicken with pasta. The meal is $24 for club members and $26 for non-members. Dress is semi-formal or mess dress for military, and civilian equivalent for non-military. RSVP to your first sergeant by Aug. 14. Veterans and Military Resource Fair A Country to Community Veterans and Military Resource Fair is scheduled for Aug. 25, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Washington State University - Spokane River Point Campus. In attendance will be Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and other various Eastern Washington groups. Information and assistance will be provided on benefits, medical records, health care services, financial assistance, resume building, SBA Loans and more. Contact Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers' Spokane office at 353-2374 for more information. Pharmacy to close Aug. 27 - 30 The main pharmacy will be relocating Aug. 27-30. During this transition, prescription services will only be available at the refill pharmacy located between the BX and Commissary. The refill pharmacy's hours of operation during this week of transition will be 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. for full service. The refill pharmacy will also be open for refill pick-up on the Wing Family Day, Aug. 31, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. It is recommended you fill your prescriptions before or after the relocation to avoid extended delays. As a reminder, your prescriptions may be filled after 75 percent of your medication is consumed according to the directions on your label. The new pharmacy will open Sept. 4. Wright Village, officer Capehart and Senior Officer Housing will have bulk item pick-up Aug. 22. Galena Station, NCO Capehart, and Main Base and Survival Dormitories will have bulk item pick-up Aug. 29. Items must be less than 10 feet long and weigh less than 300 pounds. No hazardous materials are accepted. Typical items include appliances, furniture, lawn mowers, tires, bicycles and electronics. Mark Goodwill items with "Goodwill." Bundles for Babies The Airman and Family Readiness Center would like to invite first-time parents to the Bundles for Babies Class Aug. 28, 2 - 4 p.m. This fun and informative class will help prepare for new additions to family. Topics discussed include the developmental stages, financial planning and emotional aspects of having a new baby. The class is open to all expectant active duty Air Force families, as well as those with babies three months and younger. There will be bundles of information and free goodies for the newborn. Base Security and Policy Review In accordance with Public Affairs regulation if you are planning to represent Fairchild in the community on behalf of the Air Force, Public Affairs can assist you in developing talking points and will review your speech and/or presentation. Conserving energy one computer at a time In an effort to conserve energy and save resources, Headquarters Air Mobility Command has directed all computers and associated peripherals be powered down when not needed for patching or security scans. Power down unused PCs at the end of the duty day with the exception of Tuesdays. At the end of each Tuesday users should restart their PC to allow required software updates and/or security patches. Also, leave your PCs powered on during the first Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the month for a sweep and scan of the AMC domain. All 24-hour work centers must restart PCs each evening at shift change. This initiative should result in an estimated savings of $140 thousand annually at Fairchild alone. AMC looking for marathon runners The 11th annual Air Force Marathon is Sept. 15 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, as part of the Air Force 60th Anniversary celebration. Marathon organizers have set a goal of 10,000 participating runners. This year, a new "MAJCOM Challenge" is being introduced. At the fall Corona, a traveling trophy will be presented to the command with the most participation points, and the highest male and female finishers in the full and half marathons. Air Mobility Command vice commander Lt. Gen. Chris Kelly is personally encouraging maximum support of the marathon, and is urging AMC Airmen to participate. AMC will fund male and female teams in the full and half marathon events. Permissive TDY is authorized for participants. Heart Link Workshop The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be conducting a Heart Link Workshop Sept. 13, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for military spouses. Heart Link is a program that strives to strengthen military families and enhance mission readiness. Spouses will learn about the Air Force mission, military customs, traditions and protocol, as well as support resources and services available to them. There will be free child care for those attending. Lunch will be provided. Advanced registration for the workshop is required to make reservations for the child care. Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants will perform at Ferris High School in Spokane Oct. 29 (time to be determined.) Admission is free and open to the public. Flightline restricted area realignment in effect The flightline restricted area realignment is now in effect. Primary entry is through Flightline Vehicle Gate FV-9 located between the Snow Barn and the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. As a reminder, when aircraft are present in temporary restricted areas and for the permanent restricted area, individuals need a restricted area badge with the open area 4, be under escort, or have a home station restricted area badge with an authenticated entry authority list. All vehicles and individuals will enter through the designated entry control points unless a known emergency, Klaxon, aircraft taxiing, or pre-approved clearance is granted. ALS looking for instructors Fairchild's Airman Leadership School flight chief is accepting applications for two staff sergeant instructor positions. Eagle Eyes The Fairchild Office of Special Investigations would like to remind Fairchild personnel and family members to remain vigilant, notice things that are out of place and report any suspicious activities to OSI, 247-2591, or the law enforcement desk, 247-5555. Keep an eye out for the following behaviors: surveillance, elicitation, security tests, acquiring supplies, suspicious or out-of-place persons, dry-run attempts and deploying assets. Undergraduate Flying Training The next Undergraduate Flying Training selection board will convene at the Air Force Personnel Center Jan. 8. This selection board will review active duty applications for selection to pilot, CSO and air battle manager training. Those officers with a date of birth after April 1, 1978, and a TFCSD after April 1, 2003, who meet all other eligibility criteria, will be eligible to apply for UFT. Applicants must send the completed application postmarked by Nov. 26 to: HQ AFPC/DPAOT3 550 C Street West Suite 31 Randolph AFB, TX 78150-4733 Applicants are responsible for advising commanders and supervisors providing AF Form 215 comments of the application deadline.
