Air Force Ball
The Air Force Ball will be held Sept. 8 in Hangars 2 and 4, 6:30 p.m. cocktails and 7:30 p.m. start. Menu choices are Chicken Marsala for $20, Roasted Prime Rib for $27, or a Vegetarian Plate for $20 (available only upon request.) Non-club members will pay an additional $3 fee.
Tickets are available through first sergeants through Sep. 4. Wine will also be available through first sergeants for a $15 pre-charge.
Childcare is also available through the Child Development Center. Call 247-2403 by Aug. 29 to reserve a childcare slot.

Masters Swim Team
The Aquatics Center is starting a Masters Swim Team designed for adults preparing for triathlons or wishing to compete in swim meets. If you are interested contact the pool at 247-2242 or e-mail the director at damian.smith@fairchild.af.mil.

Freedom Walk
To commemorate the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon, honor all lives lost on Sept. 11, and pay tribute to veterans past and present, Spokane is holding a Freedom Walk Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. in Riverfront Park. For more information and to register for the Freedom Walk, go to http://www.freedomwalkspokane.org. Wear of the Air Force PT uniform during the Freedom Walk is appropriate but not required. Participation in the Freedom Walk is entirely voluntary.

ITT Satellite Office opening
The ITT Satellite Office opens for business Aug. 31 across from clothing and sales in the AAFES complex. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The office is closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. Call 247-5649 or 244-4797 for information.
The current ITT location between Outdoor Recreation and the Indoor Pool remains open as normal, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

CDC Part Day program
The Child Development Center is offering a Part Day Program for children ages 24-36 months beginning Sept. 10. There are two, three and five-day program options. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. Fees are based on total family income. Registration for the program is on a first-come first-serve basis. Contact the CDC at 247-2403 for information.

Sports Bike class
With the success of the Sports Bike Motorcycle Training, the Safety Office is offering another Sports Bike Class Sep. 6. This is a one-day class for those interested in learning more about their sport bike, such as how to set up the bike suspension and how to adjust the clutch and throttle for better control and response. Students will build more confidence in their bikes while learning better maneuvering and corning techniques, and seating positions for better handling.
The slots for this class are limited; registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Call the Wing Safety Office at 247-2739 to register or for time and location details.

The IG has moved
The Inspector General's office has moved out of the Wing Headquarters building and is now located in Building 617, which is across the street from the base post office. Phone numbers remain the same.

The commissary will hold a case lot sale Sept. 14-16 in the commissary parking lot.

Outdoor pool closure
The outdoor pool will be closed for repairs until further notice. Swim lessons have been moved to the indoor pool at the same time. The indoor pool offers open swim Mondays and Wednesdays 5 - 6:30 p.m., Fridays 5 - 8 p.m., and weekends noon - 5 p.m. Call 247-2242 or 247-5220 for information.

Base Security and Policy Review
In accordance with Public Affairs regulation if you are planning to represent Fairchild in the community on behalf of the Air Force, Public Affairs can assist you in developing talking points and will review your speech and/or presentation.

Heart Link Workshop
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be conducting a Heart Link Workshop Sept. 13, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for military spouses. Heart Link is a program that strives to strengthen military families and enhance mission readiness. Spouses will learn about the Air Force mission, military customs, traditions and protocol, as well as support resources and services available to them. There will be free child care for those attending. Lunch will be provided. Advanced registration for the workshop is required to make reservations for the child care.

AMC looking for marathon runners
The 11th annual Air Force Marathon is Sept. 15 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, as part of the Air Force 60th Anniversary celebration. Marathon organizers have set a goal of 10,000 participating runners.
This year, a new "MAJCOM Challenge" is being introduced. At the fall Corona, a traveling trophy will be presented to the command with the most participation points, and the highest male and female finishers in the full and half marathons.
Air Mobility Command vice commander Lt. Gen. Chris Kelly is personally encouraging maximum support of the marathon, and is urging AMC Airmen to participate. AMC will fund male and female teams in the full and half marathon events. Permissive TDY is authorized for participants.

USAF Band to visit Spokane
The U. S. Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants will perform at Ferris High School in Spokane Oct. 29 (time to be determined.) Admission is free and open to the public.

Flightline restricted area realignment in effect
The flightline restricted area realignment is now in effect. Primary entry is through Flightline Vehicle Gate FV-9 located between the Snow Barn and the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron.
As a reminder, when aircraft are present in temporary restricted areas and for the permanent restricted area, individuals need a restricted area badge with the open area 4, be under escort, or have a home station restricted area badge with an authenticated entry authority list. All vehicles and individuals will enter through the designated entry control points unless a known emergency, Klaxon, aircraft taxiing, or pre-approved clearance is granted.
Unit security managers will have maps indicating the realignment. Questions can be directed to the Staff Sgt. William Brown, 92nd Security Forces Squadron, at 247-5998.

ALS looking for instructors
Fairchild's Airman Leadership School flight chief is accepting applications for two staff sergeant instructor positions. Undergraduate Flying Training
The next Undergraduate Flying Training selection board will convene at the Air Force Personnel Center Jan. 8. This selection board will review active duty applications for selection to pilot, CSO and air battle manager training. Those officers with a date of birth after April 1, 1978, and a TFCSD after April 1, 2003, who meet all other eligibility criteria, will be eligible to apply for UFT. Applicants must send the completed application postmarked by Nov. 26 to:

Applicants are responsible for advising commanders and supervisors providing AF Form 215 comments of the application deadline. Applications with incomplete or missing data may not be processed. All applicants need to complete the Air Force Officer Qualification Test. In addition, pilot applicants must complete the Test of Basic Aviation Skills. Study Skills class
A Study Skills class will be held Sept. 12, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., at the education center, Room 103. The seminar is designed for military members, civilians and dependents returning to college after a long absence. The primary focus is the introduce students to time management; other modules include memory, reading for comprehension, and test taking. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Embry-Riddle offers Bachelor and Master's degrees, and Certificates of Completion. Courses can be completed in a classroom, on-line or through a combination of both. Qualified Bachelor degree students can be awarded up to 36 advanced standing credits; Master Degree students are also eligible for advance credit if qualified.
Individuals desiring an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license can earn the AMT Certificate of Completion program in preparation for the FAA exam.

Park University
- Park's Online Learning program offiers seven Bachelor of Science Degree completion programs online and more than 250 internet courses, including general education classes, each term. The online learning environment at Park allows students to go to class when and where their schedules permit.
