Briefs Free Movie at the Youth Center A free movie showing of "Flushed Away" will play at the Youth Center Sept. 14 from 6 - 9 p.m. Free popcorn and drinks will be provided. The cost for members is $10.95, the cost for non-members is $13.95, children under four years old eat for free and children from five to 10 years old eat for half the price. Scholastic Book Fair The Child Development Center will hold a book fair Sept. 17-20, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed and will receive a $5 gift certificate; sign up at the CDC to volunteer. Chief's Group Steak Out Tickets are still available for the Chief's Group Steak Out scheduled for Sept. 20 Texas Hold 'Em Play Texas Hold 'Em at Club Fairchild Sept. 20 starting at 6 p.m. The admission price for Club Members is $6, while non-member admission costs $12. Woodworking classes to begin soon The next session of woodworking classes is set to begin soon. Wood I, which includes learning the basics and building a nightstand, begins Oct. 3. The cost is $80. Wood II, which includes expanding those skills and building a dresser, begins Oct. 4. Wood III, which allows you to get creative and pick your own project, begins Oct. 11. Hot water to shut off temporarily in Aquatic Center Due to required maintenance at the Aquatic Center, the pool and showers will be without hot water Sept. 14-23. Showers can be used at the Fitness Center. The pool temperature is expected to drop to 76 degrees Fahrenheit. Masters Swim Team The Aquatics Center is starting a Masters Swim Team designed for adults preparing for triathlons or wishing to compete in swim meets. ITT Satellite Office opening The ITT Satellite Office opened for business Aug. 31 across from clothing and sales in the AAFES complex. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The office is closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. Call 247-5649 or 244-4797 for information. The current ITT location between Outdoor Recreation and the Indoor Pool remains open as normal, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. CDC Part Day program The Child Development Center is offering a Part Day Program for children ages 24-36 months. There are two, three and five-day program options. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. Fees are based on total family income. Registration for the program is on a first-come first-serve basis. Contact the CDC at 247-2403 for information. Mental Health Clinic moved The Mental Health Clinic, including all Family Advocacy, ADAPT and Counseling services, has moved. The new location is in the main 92nd Medical Group Facility in Building 9000 on the second floor. Normal services and business hours will resume Sept. 10. Telephone numbers will be the same. IG office moved The Inspector General's office has moved out of the Wing Headquarters building and is now located in Building 617, which is across the street from the base post office. Outdoor pool closure The outdoor pool will be closed for repairs until further notice. Swim lessons have been moved to the indoor pool at the same time. Automatic Car Wash closed The automatic car wash is down due to a blown high pressure line. Parts are on the way and it is expected to be back in service soon. ALS looking for instructors Fairchild's Airman Leadership School flight chief is accepting applications for two staff sergeant instructor positions. Undergraduate Flying Training The next Undergraduate Flying Training selection board will convene at the Air Force Personnel Center Jan. 8. This selection board will review active duty applications for selection to pilot, CSO and air battle manager training. Those officers with a date of birth after April 1, 1978, and a TFCSD after April 1, 2003, who meet all other eligibility criteria, will be eligible to apply for UFT. Education Briefs Force Development Courses - Anatomy of Leadership and Influence helps students to maximize their leadership abilities. The course is open to all military and civilian personnel, and is held Sept. 21, 8 a.m. - noon, at the Education Center, Room 113. - The Adult Learner Teacher Class offers strategies to effectively facilitate adult learning in briefings, training programs and short courses. The course is open to all Force Development Education instructors, and all military and civilian instructors and supervisors. The class is held Sept. 25, 8 a.m. - noon, at the Education Center, Room 105. - Enlisted 101 is a career maximization course for airmen basic through senior airmen, and new supervisors of enlisted personnel. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Degree and AMT Programs Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Spokane Campus offers an AMT Type 65 certificate of completion program in preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant license exam. For those seeking a degree, up to 36 semester hours of advance standing credit may be applied towards the Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics degree. Additionally, other undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation aerospace are available and can be completed in class or online. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement. WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after the test date. The requirement will not be waived; failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation. If Park is required to return a portion of an amount already awarded, the student will be responsible for any balance resulting from the return of the loan or grant money.
