Rosetta Stone Online Language Center now available Published Oct. 12, 2007 By Betty Sue Nix Air Mobility Command Library Technician FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The Air Mobility Command Library Program is pleased to announce the purchase of licensing of online users for the Rosetta Stone Language Learning Center. This service, which began Oct.1, provides AMC library users free access to language learning tools for 30 languages including French, Spanish, Eastern Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Farsi and Pashto. Rosetta Stone uses a powerful immersion method for fast and effective language learning online. Using the recorded voices of native speakers and thousands of real life photographs, Rosetta Stone recreates the natural process of learning a language. The programs are structured to introduce beginning students of any age to a new language and to systematically develop the language skills of more advanced students. Listening, reading, speaking, and writing exercises are available. This mission support program provides AMC military members, families, and Department of Defense civilians a free, easy avenue to learning a new language or the opportunity to brush up on their current language skills. It also supports the current Air Force Chief of Staff's initiative of obtaining foreign language skills to broaden military members' careers in today's diverse military environment. Registration forms and additional information about the program are available at the base library, 247-5556.
