Education briefs are located at the bottom of the page. Briefs Club Fairchild membership drive Club Fairchild is holding a membership drive through Dec. 31. Squadrons will receive credit for each new squadron member, military or civilian, who signs up at the Club Fairchild cash cage. The three squadrons with the highest percentages of new members during the drive receive a $300, a $200 and a $100 voucher respectively for a squadron function held at Club Fairchild. Call Club Fairchild for information at 247-2616. Applications are available at the club's cash cage. Lost and Found Several items have been turned into the Security Forces Lost and Found. The items relinquished to security forces as found or abandoned property includes one black and gold ring, one Audiovox mini handheld radio, one small denim purse, one Roadmaster bicycle, one U.S. Bank money bag. Cooking classes at the HAWC Fresh and healthy cooking class will be held at the Health and Wellness Center on the first and third Fridays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. The first class will be Oct. 19. Learn how to use fresh foods to make healthy, great tasting food for you and your family. Classes are taught by a registered dietitian using seasonal items to help you save money on your grocery bill and prepare great tasting nutritious food. Daily Catholic Mass There will be daily Catholic Mass Tuesday through Thursday at noon. The mass will be held in the blessed sacrament room in the chapel. For more information call 247-2264. Pumpkin Patrol Every year, volunteers walk through the base housing areas during Trick-or-Treating hours as members of the Annual Pumpkin Patrol. This provides a safe environment for the children. Breast Cancer Awareness Month For more than 20 years National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has helped focus national attention on breast cancer and the importance of early detection and treatment. Active duty women and adult female retirees and family members are encouraged to schedule their annual Pap, breast exam and mammogram (if required) for the same day at the 92nd Medical Group clinic. Airman's Attic donations Due to building renovations, the Airman's Attic will be unable to accept donations from Oct. 11 through Nov. 21, as they will be unable to store them during this time. The Airman's Attic will remain open to serve you, but may experience some closures due to the construction. Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated. CJRs available for all reenlisting Airmen Effective Oct. 1, all first-term Airmen selected by their commanders as eligible to reenlist under the Selective Reenlistment Program will receive a Career Job Reservation once they enter the first month of their reenlistment eligibility window. Enlistment extensions will have no impact on an Airman's CJR eligibility window. Eligibility windows are 35-38 months for National Call to Service enlistees, 35-43 months for four-year enlistees and 59-67 months for six-year enlistees. The CJR program will run unrestricted unless the Air Force needs to make enlisted force adjustments to meet authorized strength levels. Volunteer sexual assault victim advocates needed The next training session for volunteer sexual assault victim advocates is Nov. 13 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Post Office (lower level.) Fire Prevention Week Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 7-13. The theme of this year's campaign is "Plan your escape plan." Fairchild's Fire Department will host a Fire Station open house Oct. 13, 9 - 11 a.m., and an elementary school poster contest. Rambo Gate procedure change Starting Oct. 9 at 6 a.m., personally-owned vehicles will not be allowed entry through Rambo Gate. All POVs must enter through the Fairchild Main Gate after this time. Air Force Ball photos available for pickup Air Force Ball attendees who ordered professional photos can pick them up at the Deel Community Center, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays. Photos are located in front of the Director's office. Please pick them up as soon as possible. Book swap The Deel Community Center holds a book swap 9 a.m. - noon and a story hour 10-11 a.m. every Monday the center is open. Volunteers are needed to read during story hour. Masters Swim Team The Aquatics Center is starting a Masters Swim Team designed for adults preparing for triathlons or wishing to compete in swim meets. CDC Part Day program The Child Development Center is offering a Part Day Program for children ages 24-36 months. There are two, three and five-day program options. The program runs from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. Fees are based on total family income. Registration for the program is on a first-come first-serve basis. Pass and Registration to move The 92nd Security Forces Squadron Pass and Registration Section is now located in the newly renovated Bldg 4325 at 100 West Poplar St. All pass and registration functions involving identification cards issued by security forces, restricted area badges, guest lists, and contractor identification will be conducted out of the Bldg 4325. Operating hours for the new facility are 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays. Visitor passes and vehicle registration will continue to take place at the Entry Screening Facility located outside of the Main Gate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Parents Night Out/Deployed Give Parents a Break Starting in October, Deployed Give Parents a Break will be held in conjunction with Parents Night Out, the third Friday night of each month. Make reservations for either the Parents Night Out or Deployed Give Parents a Break to be held Oct. 19 from 6:30 -11:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per child and payments are required in advance. Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants will perform at Ferris High School in Spokane Oct. 29 (time to be determined.) Admission is free and open to the public. Undergraduate Flying Training The next Undergraduate Flying Training selection board will convene at the Air Force Personnel Center Jan. 8. This selection board will review active duty applications for selection to pilot, CSO and air battle manager training. Those officers with a date of birth after April 1, 1978, and a TFCSD after April 1, 2003, who meet all other eligibility criteria, will be eligible to apply for UFT. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Degree and AMT Programs Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Spokane Campus offers an AMT Type 65 certificate of completion program in preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant license exam. For those seeking a degree, up to 36 semester hours of advance standing credit may be applied towards the Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics degree. Additionally, other undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation aerospace are available and can be completed in class or online. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and a graduation requirement. WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after the test date. The requirement will not be waived; failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation. Call 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the test. - All consortiums and visiting student agreements must be approved by the host and home institution registrars, and received in the Student Financial Services Office, Park University before the beginning of the term for which aid is being requested. If not, the consortium/visiting student agreement will not be processed, without exception. Students who want a consortium/visiting student agreement to be processed need to start their paperwork early. Students must also ensure the host institution registrar completes and forwards the form in a timely manner. If Park is required to return a portion of an amount already awarded, the student will be responsible for any balance resulting from the return of the loan or grant money. Southern Illinois University Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers an accelerated-format bachelor of science degree program at Fairchild. The program allows students to complete their major in one year, with an alternating weekend schedule (one to two weekends per month.) No associate degree is required to start the program, and up to 44 semester hours can be granted for work experience and technical training.
