Fairchild CFC kicks off officially Published Oct. 12, 2007 By Staff Sgt. Connie L. Bias 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Fairchild's Combined Federal Campaign kickoff took place Oct. 9. The campaign began operationally here Oct. 1, but the formal CFC introduction gave CFC representatives from the base and the Inland Northwest region an official forum in which to garner support and spread information. The Inland Northwest CFC covers counties in northeastern Washington and northern Idaho. Just like the national campaign, the local CFC mission is to "promote and support giving through a program that is employee focused, cost efficient, and effective," said David Paul, Inland Northwest Local Federal Coordinating Committee chair. "The nearly $450,000 that we raised through our local CFC this past year has greatly benefited 142 local, 454 national and 80 international nonprofit organizations, providing health and human service benefits to our own communities and throughout the world." How to choose from all those organizations? To answer this, speakers at the kickoff had one common theme: Give to the organization to which your heart leads you. "Maybe it's adopting children or providing for the needy in the local community. Maybe it's building homes for those who don't have one. Maybe it's just here on Fairchild Air Force Base in the Child Development Center, the Youth Center or our Airman and Family Readiness Center," said Colonel Watkins. "I would ask that each of you think about what activities, what businesses in the CFC have impacted your life. Ask yourself if there's some small way you can give back, either with your time, your talents or your treasures." Fairchild's campaign will run through Nov. 13.
