Briefs

Deployed Spouses Dinner
Fairchild's Top 3 organization, comprised of Airmen in the top three enlisted ranks, will host a dinner for the spouses of deployed members of Team Fairchild Nov. 16 in the base chapel beginning at 6 p.m. The theme for this dinner will be Italian. The menu for the event includes spaghetti, alfredo, garlic bread and salad, and there will be pizza available for the children.

Attention: Town Hall Meeting
The Town Hall meeting previously scheduled for Nov. 15 has been rescheduled for a Nov. 28. Topics of discussion at the Town Hall meeting will include housing privatization, snow season responsibilities, fall and winter house preparations, youth sports, family member support update, security forces update, and a Medical Lake School District update, among other things.

Tops in Blue
Tops in Blue, the Air Force's expeditionary entertainment unit, is scheduled to perform at the Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Wash., Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. Tops in Blue is an all active-duty special unit comprised of 35 talented vocalists, musicians and dancers. The group's mission is to perform for military personnel and their families around the world.

Toastmasters at Fairchild
There will be a Fairchild Toastmasters interest meeting at Club Fairchild in the Fairchild Room on Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Toastmasters is a way to improve public speaking and leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment that fosters professional growth and personal achievement.

Turkey Bowl at the FunSpot
The FunSpot will host a Turkey Bowl Nov. 1-16, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bowl a game during any open bowling time and the top five scores will receive a turkey at the end of the competition. Call the FunSpot at 247-2422 for more information.

ITT Spokane Chiefs Hockey Tickets
Information, Tickets and Travel has tickets to Spokane Chiefs home games on Nov. 16 and 21.Tickets are $11.25-$20.25 per person and are available at both ITT locations. Call 247-5649 for details.

Commissary Holiday Hours
The commissary will be open Nov. 19, but will be closed Nov. 23 and 23.

Outdoor Rec Duck & Goose Hunt at Clear Lake
There will be a Duck & Goose Hunt at Clear Lake Nov. 24. The cost is $45 per person and includes guides, blind and decoys. Customers are responsible for gun, license and ammunition. Call 247-5601 to sign up.

Thanksgiving-to-Go available at Club Fairchild
A Thanksgiving meal will be available to go at Club Fairchild. The deadline to order is Nov. 15 deadline and the pick-up time is by 4 p.m. Nov. 21. Four menu options available including:

- Smoked or roasted turkey, dressing, cranberry relish, turkey gravy, green beans, rustic mashed potatoes or whipped sweet potatoes, dinner rolls and pie for $59.75 for members, $62.75 for non-members
- Smoked or roasted turkey for $27.95 (members) and $30.95 (non-members)
- Pies, $9 each; choose from apple, pecan, cherry, blueberry, pumpkin, lemon meringue, coconut cream, banana cream, chocolate cream
- Pumpkin cheesecake, $11

Thanksgiving at the dining facilities
Fairchild's leadership will be serving Thanksgiving meals to all military, retirees and families Nov. 22. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Reservations are not necessary.

Sign-up for youth basketball
Sign-up for youth basketball is going on now for Youth Basketball for ages 5-12. The cost is $35 and includes a tee shirt. Smart Start Basketball for ages 3 and 4 will cost $45 and includes a jersey, set of cones and two basketballs. All participants need a sports physical. Register at the Youth Center by Dec. 5. Practices will begin after the New Year. Call 247-5601 for more information

Information Technology and Trade Show
The will be an Information Technology/Trade Show, hosted by the 92nd Communications Squadron, at the Club Fairchild on Nov. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event will have major technology companies demonstrating the latest, fastest and "best of show" computers, related hardware and accessories. These shows are the perfect forum for IT users, buyers and planners to discuss requirements and future IT challenges with knowledgeable Federal Sales Representatives. This event is free and open to everyone. There will be catering provided during the event.

Free Family Fun Night Party
The FunSpot will host a free Family Fun Night Party Nov. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be free bowling, skating, mini-golf, batting cages, and pizza and soda while it lasts. Contact the Funspot for more information at 247-2422.

Fall Education Fair
There will be a Fall Education Fair at the base Education Center and Library Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair is open to military personnel and civilians and will include a Troops to Teachers briefing from 8 to 9 a.m. and a Montgomery GI Bill and VA briefing from 10 to 11 a.m. Both briefings will be held in Room 113. Various educational representatives from the local community and beyond will be present.

Holiday Card Contest
There will be a "Holiday Card" contest for which materials can be picked up at the Self Help in Bldg. 2451. Cards will be on display from Dec. 2 Dec Jan. 3. Judging will take place on Dec. 17. Winners will be announced at Dec 19. First place will receive $100 Services Bucks, second place will receive $50 Services Bucks and third place $25 Services Bucks. You may receive the Rules of Engagement from the First Sergeants.

Month of the Military Family
The Airman and Family Readiness Center sponsors free weekly prize drawings during, November, the National Month of the Military Family.

FunSpot Family Day
Every Sunday in November, the FunSpot will host a FunSpot Famliy Day from 1 to 7 p.m. in recognition of Military Family Month. Bowling, shoe rental, miniature golf and the batting cages will all cost $1. Call the FunSpot at 247-2422 for more information.

Holiday party reservations
Services is standing by for holiday party reservations. There are a variety of venues, dates and options for holiday parties at Club Fairchild, the Final Point, 247-2616; Funspot, 247-2422; and the Aquatic Center, 247-2242. Family and kids' parties are welcome.

Club Fairchild membership drive
Club Fairchild is holding a membership drive through Dec. 31. Squadrons will receive credit for each new squadron member, military or civilian, who signs up at the Club Fairchild cash cage. The three squadrons with the highest percentages of new members during the drive receive a $700, a $500 and a $300 voucher respectively for a squadron function held at Club Fairchild.

Fitness Center Locker Policy Change
The Fitness Center will conduct a locker change. All locks must be removed by Dec. 31. Contact the Fitness Center at 247-2791 for additional information.

Airman and Family Readiness Center changes
The Discovery Center, a computer resources room in the Airman & Family Readiness Center, will be closed until further notice due to repairs to our computers. The A&FRC is now 90 percent complete with building carpeting and is now open for full business. This includes the Airman's Attic and Loan Closet. We would like to thank everyone for supporting us during our building re-carpeting.

Ski Blow Out
The Outdoor Recreation Connection has started its winter ski blowout sale. Used adult and junior skis and bindings from $75 to $100 will be available. Buy your winter skis while supplies last. Call 247-2511 for details.

AADD looking for volunteers
Airman Against Drunk Driving is looking for volunteers to fill treasurer and secretary positions. The treasurer is responsible for tracking and settling all debts and assets, and the secretary is responsible for scheduling meeting and publishing meeting minutes. Email Chief Master Sgt. Undergraduate Flying Training
The next Undergraduate Flying Training selection board will convene at the Air Force Personnel Center Jan. 8. This selection board will review active duty applications for selection to pilot, CSO and air battle manager training. Those officers with a date of birth after April 1, 1978, and a TFCSD after April 1, 2003, who meet all other eligibility criteria, will be eligible to apply for UFT. Applicants must send the completed application postmarked by Nov. 26 to:

Applicants are responsible for advising commanders and supervisors providing AF Form 215 comments of the application deadline. Applications with incomplete or missing data may not be processed. All applicants need to complete the Air Force Officer Qualification Test. In addition, pilot applicants must complete the Test of Basic Aviation Skills. Education Briefs

Education Opportunities Galore

Park University
-Park University's Fairchild Campus Center will be offering the Writing Competency Test Nov. 20 and 27; and Dec. 4. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and also a graduation requirement. The WCT results will not be available until at least three weeks after test date. Failure to comply with this requirement could delay graduation because the requirement will not be waived. Call 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the WCT.

-Park University students receiving Pell Grants or student loans, please be aware the process of dropping a class may change your eligibility for them. If Park is required to return a portion of an amount already awarded, the student will be responsible for any balance resulting from the return of the loan or grant money. Before dropping classes, please check with Student Financial Services to determine if your loan or grant eligibility will be affected. For information call 244-2020

-All consortiums and visiting student agreements must be approved by the host institution Registrar and home institution Registrar and received in the Student Financial Services Office, Park University before the beginning of the term for which aid is being requested. If not, the consortium/visiting student agreement will not be processed. Students are also responsible for ensuring the Registrar at the host institution completes and forwards the form in a timely manner. Call 244-2020 for information.

Southern Illinois University
Southern Illinois University Carbondale offers an accelerated-format Bachelor of Science degree program at Fairchild. The program allows students to complete their major in one year, with an alternating weekend schedule. No associate degree is required to start the program, and up to 44 semester hours can be granted for work experience and technical training. Full financial assistance is available to qualified students. Earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development. Classes begin Jan. 12. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers Bachelor and Masters Degree programs and an AMT Type 65 certificate for those seeking an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. Courses may be completed either in class or worldwide through distance learning. Embry-Riddle's Worldwide Campus consists of more than 130 learning centers in 37 states and five countries.
