The Combined Federal Campaign, a yearly campaign that is comprised of various organizations to which people may donate, has recently come to a close at Fairchild. The campaign ended here Nov. 13 with successes that reveal Team Fairchild's exceptional spirit of giving.

"The purpose of the CFC is to give back to our base and the local community," said Maj. Scott Linck, Fairchild's CFC representative. "It consists of hundreds of organizations that are associated with the one campaign, making it easier to give."

"The campaign has an impact on the base, the local area and international organizations," he added.

Three Fairchild organizations were included in the list of organizations CFC donators were able to give to. The organizations include the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, Child Development Center and Youth Center.

Other various organizations in the Inland Northwest community were also able to receive donations through the CFC.

"Anytime we help our community, we also help the base because of the many people who live off-base or use off-base resources," Major Linck said. "It increases the quality of life for all of us; it's a circular process."

Key players in the success of the campaign include the many unit CFC representatives and the volunteers who gave their time to assist with the smooth-running of the yearly campaign.

"Traditionally, our goal is to get 100 percent contact, which we reached about a week before the campaign ended. This is in no small part attributed to the key workers who affected contact," said Major Linck.

Last year, more than $90,000 was raised during the CFC. Topping that, the 2007 Combined Federal Campaign raised more than $115,000, approximately a 25 percent increase from the previous year.

"People are getting more engaged and giving more," Major Linck noted. "[Though,] Fairchild's goal wasn't the money amount, it's for people to become educated about the CFC and have the opportunity to donate. The money received is 100 percent generosity from the goodness of their hearts."

Though the official campaign at Fairchild is over, donations will continue to be accepted through Jan. 15 via the same channels used during the campaign - the designated unit CFC representatives.

Airmen are also encouraged to volunteer their time to assist with Fairchild's 2008 campaign.

"It's very rewarding," Major Linck said. "It becomes a 'labor of love.' Your efforts would have a generous impact."
