SFS represents Fairchild at AMC level Published Nov. 29, 2007 FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Airmen from the 92nd Security Forces Squadron recently won top awards at the Air Mobility Command level, claiming five of the 18 security forces awards granted for fiscal year 2007. The 2007 winners are: Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award For Expeditionary Excellence: Airman 1st Class Sean Dalgarn New to the Air Force, this award recognizes the war-fighting contributions and outstanding accomplishments of first-term Airmen. Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Nicole Jacobson, the namesake of the award, was the first Security Forces member and the first Air Force female to be killed in action in Iraq. Airman Dalgarn received the award for performing exceptionally well under pressure while deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom by responding to incidents, executing Self Aid and Buddy Care techniques and coordinating between agencies in the area of responsibility. Colonel Billy Jack Carter Award: Tech. Sgt. Edward Tillman The Air Force annually presents the Carter award to the military, civilian or contract employee who makes the most significant contribution in protecting Air Force people and resources. The award is named for the first career security police officer to become the Air Force Chief of Security Police. Colonel Carter was also the commander of the 377th Security Police Squadron at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam, which distinguished itself in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. Sergeant Tillman received the award for his role in leading Airmen in force protection, training Iraqi Police, planning tactical responses to incidents, directing post-attack operations and overseeing upgrades and successful delivery of supplies to the IP station. He did so while deployed to Camp Victory Forward Operating Base, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Outstanding Security Forces Flight Level NCO Award: Staff Sgt. Robert Winner Sergeant Winner received the award for his superior leadership abilities as a deployed flight chief. He directed response forces, led area security patrols, instructed Iraqi Police in riot control and incident response, and provided patrol security for military, civilian and local national personnel. Outstanding Security Forces Support Staff NCO Award: Staff Sgt. Oscar Hernandez Sergeant Hernandez received the award for his exceptional efforts in responding to incidents and attacks, investigating and conducting searches while deployed in Baghdad, Iraq, as well as for creating training outlines and conducting flight exercises, and researching and authoring new entry controller evaluations. Outstanding Security Forces Augmenter Award: Senior Airman David Jones, Airman Jones received the award for managing the vehicle fleet, equipping law enforcement vehicles, conducting a detailed fleet inspection, and revitalizing and updating the unit's hazardous materials program, as well as for volunteering with various organizations and continuing his education. Individual award winners will be invited to attend the Annual AMC Security Forces Awards Banquet at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., tentatively scheduled for in the July to August 2008 time frame.
