The letter below was printed in The Spokesman Review from Lt. Col. Nancy Reid Isaak, 141st Air Refueling Wing thanking members of Operation Spokane Heroes for their public show of support Nov. 3 at Fairchild's front gate. About 70 community members greeted Washington Air National Guard Airmen as they arrived for their drill weekend:

A sincere salute

On behalf of the men and women of the 141st Air Refueling Wing, Washington Air National Guard, I'd like to express our gratitude to the fine folks at Operation Spokane Heroes for hosting a heart-warming show of support. As our members showed up early Saturday morning for drill weekend, we were met by flag-waving cheers from our wonderful community.

The Patriot Guard lined the road with their motorcade, Veterans of Foreign Wars members, Naval Sea Cadets, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve members, Greater Spokane Incorporated, Spokane Valley Chamber, American Legion, Lilac Festival representatives - all there to greet us on a very chilly morning.

Founded in 1924 at Felts Field Airport in Spokane Valley, our unit has a proud heritage in this community. Our citizen-airmen are proud to serve our state and federal missions. We were overwhelmed by this display of support for what we do.

Thank you all so very much.
Lt. Col. Nancy Reid
