A&FRC receives TriWest donation

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The Airman and Family Readiness Center received a $3,000 check from TriWest Healthcare Alliance Dec.13 to support family members of deployed military spouses.

The money will be used for special events to unite both spouses and the children of deployed troops while their loved ones are away fighting the war on terror in contingencies Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

"We plan to use part of this money for families of deployed spouses," said Linda Myles, A&FRC director.

The donation will be used for a variety of events. Ideas about how to use the money include a spousal spa day, spouse appreciation day, month of the military child and events during month of the military family.

"There are countless possibilities to support our military community," expressed Mrs. Myles, "and this [enables] us to give something in appreciation to military members of Fairchild that are currently deployed.

The money may also be used to help families with critical needs that require immediate financial assistance.

Unexpected emergencies, such as car accidents or unexpected illnesses, are examples of possible uses of the $3,000 donation, said Mrs. Myles.

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is a Department of Defense contracted company that provides healthcare services to retirees, military personnel and their dependents.

"We sincerely value the opportunity to be associated with the Airman & Family Readiness Center," according to a letter from David J. McIntyre, TRICARE West Region president and chief executive officer to Mrs. Myles. "It is truly a pleasure and privilege for us to contribute to the important work done by your organization."
