Fairchild Briefs and Ongoing Notifications

The following is a list of upcoming Fairchild events and other pertinent 92nd Air Refueling Wing information. Ongoing notifications are located at the bottom of the page.

Highlighted Events:

Town Hall Meeting on Commander's Access Channel
A 40-minute video of the Jan. 14 Town Hall Meeting will play on the Commander's Access Channel, Channel 5, through mid-February to ensure all base personnel have the opportunity to review the discussions on base housing privatization. The video will run at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to allow for viewing by personnel on either day or night shifts.

Feb. 20: Scholarship for Military Children deadline
The deadline for the Scholarships for Military Children is Feb. 20. Applications must be turned into the commissary by close of business. Qualified seniors planning to enroll in a four-year program of studies the following fall, or college students already enrolled in a four-year program are eligible. At least one $1,500 scholarship is awarded at every commissary location with a qualified applicant. Additional information may be found at http://www.militaryscholar.org or www.commissaries.com.

Upcoming Events Jan. 23 - Jan. 30:

Jan. 23: Blood Drive
The Inland Northwest Blood Center will host a blood drive Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Base Exchange. All donors will receive a special edition military T-shirt as a special thank you for making a difference in the community. Jan. 25: Funspot Friday Night Frenzy
There will be a FunSpot Friday Night Frenzy Jan. 25 from 4 to 10 p.m. There will be unlimited Funspot Fun For $5, which includes bowling, skating, miniature golf, pool tables and batting cages. Call 247-2422 for more information.

Jan. 26: Ice Climbing Adventure and Fishing Trip
The Outdoor Recreation Connection is hosting an ice climbing adventure Jan. 26. The ORC will provide instruction and equipment for safe travel up a frozen waterfall. The cost is $30 per person. The ORC is also hosting a fishing trip to a nearby lake. The cost is $45 per person. Participants will meet at the ORC at 8 a.m. for both events. Call 247-5211 to sign up.

U.S. Air Force Services Survey
Take the Services survey today and help improve Services for tomorrow. Air Force Services is conducting its annual Customer Feedback Survey to gauge how Services activities are meeting the needs and desires of their customers. By spending less than 10 minutes on our Services survey, you can help us understand how well we're meeting your needs now and how we can better meet your needs in the future. Feedback is needed by Jan. 31. Go to www.usafservue.com/2008FeedbackSurvey to take the survey.

In case of inclement weather
Reminders, advisements and warnings are being spread throughout the region with winter weather in place. In the case of inclement weather this winter, call 247-5100 for base information regarding closures and manning issues.

Space Available travel for dependents of deployed military members
In recognition of sustained efforts of the spouses and dependent children of our deployed military members, when the military member's deployment is for 120 consecutive days or more, spouses and dependent children are authorized to travel Space-A, unaccompanied in Category IV.

OSC scholarship program
Applications for the Officer's Spouses Club Scholarship Program for Graduating Seniors and Spouses are due by Mar. 14. High school seniors must have a GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 grading system and must be a legal dependent of a military sponsor assigned to active or reserve duty. Spouses must reside in Spokane area and must be non-military spouses of a U.S. servicemember residing or stationed in the local area who is active duty, on a remote tour, legally retired or deceased.
